Swagbucks is Turning 2!

Search & Win

As you probably know by now, I am a HUGE fan of Swagbucks! I had never even heard of it before May of 2009 and just in the last 9 months I have earned enough Swagbucks to get $120 worth of gift cards to Starbucks, Amazon and Barnes & Noble! Plus that doesn't even include what I have in my account now that I haven't cashed in yet.

Haven't heard of Swagbucks yet? Basically it pays you to search the internet! Yes - you get paid in gifts and prizes for doing something you already do!

Swagbucks is a free service powered by Google.com and Ask.com and every time you do a search through Swagbucks.com you have the chance of winning "Swagbucks". Set it as your homepage and use it for your searches. Every so often when you search a little box will pop up that looks like a dollar bill and tells you how many SB's you have won, usually anywhere from 1 to 1 Swagbucks.

As you accumulate Swagbucks you can earn different rewards and prizes, for example: 45 Swagbucks will earn you a $5 Amazon.com e-gift card! It is literally one of the easiest things I have ever done to earn money.

There are several other ways to earn Swagbucks besides just searching the internet.

Friend Referrals: Get your friends to sign up for an account using your referral link and Swagbucks will give you a swagbuck for every swagbuck they earn up to 100.

Codes: "The Swag Guy" will periodically give out codes through Facebook, Twitter, Swagbucks Blog and their toolbar. Find the codes, enter them on the Swagbucks homepage and you earn the bucks!

Mega Swagbucks Fridays:
Fridays are "Mega-Swagbucks" day. This means that occaisionally when you search you may get the normal 1 to 3 swagbucks but you might see a 5, 10, 20 up to 100 Swagbucks winner! The most I have gotten on a Friday is 10 but I have seen people get 100 too.

Now here is the reason I am doing this post:
Tomorrow (2/25) Swagbucks is turning 2! According to The Krazy Coupon Ladies, they are celebrating by offering up triple swagbucks all day, several codes and offering new users a 6 swagbuck sign up bonus! So go HERE tomorrow and sign up, you won't regret it!

As always, feel free to email me if you have any questions about this program!!

TARGET: Cheap Kraft Cheese + 90% off V-Day Clearance!

I am so bummed I didn't know about this cheese deal when I went to Target earlier today! Argh!
Kraft Cheese (shreds or blocks) – $2
Use $1/2 from the 1/24 SmartSource Insert or $1/2 blinkie coupon from Safeway
Stack with $1/1 Target printable
Final Price: $0.50 each!

Thanks Money Saving Mom!

Also, there was an end cap at my store today that had V-Day items on 90% off clearance. There was not much left except some kiddie cards and a few strange looking candy items, I was hoping for something a little better but oh well, maybe your store will have something better. I am assuming that this sale will not last but more than a day or two as everything is being cleared out for Easter and outdoor items.

Project Bathroom Remodel Complete!

We finished Project Bathroom Remodel in just a few days from start to finish! Demo was Thursday, Repairs and Painting on Friday, Flooring and Finishes on Saturday. As with any remodel we ran into a few set backs and extra expenses with a few extra trips to the hardware store, but all in all we did a great job at a relatively low cost.
Before Pics Again:

Our Cost Breakdown:
Bathroom Vanity/Sink/Mirror Combo Package - $272.66
Faucet - $85.57
Light Fixture - $87.73
Hardware (TP holder, Shower Fixture and Towel Hooks) - $73.85
Flooring (Adhesive Laminate Tile) - $34.31
Paint - $36.18
Misc. (tape, wax ring, caulk, texture spray, pipe, paint rollers, etc.) - $44.54

Total: $634.84 with tax included

This isn't including a few things we purchased and are returning because we didn't use them like new baseboard. (We ended up using the old baseboard)

Considering the fact that the average cost of a do-it-yourself bathroom remodel is around $5,000, (That figure is for is new everything including drywall and real tile.) I think under $1,000 for a complete re-vamp is "Fabule$$" and our bathroom looks amazing!

Another big savings area was that we had no dump costs. Usually with a remodel you have a lot of stuff to get rid of that you have to take to the landfill. With the awesome power of craigslist we were able to have someone else come and take away all the old stuff for nothing! We simply took the vanity, sink, counter and mirror up to the curb and listed a FREE ad on craigslist with our address. By this morning everything was gone! We have 1 bag of garbage to send with the garbage truck tomorrow and a bunch of cardboard to send with the recycling truck and that's it!

Last time we remodeled a bathroom we actually made back $100 of the cost by listing the vanity, light fixture, mirror and sink on craigslist as a bathroom package. This time we didn't really want to hold onto all of the old stuff waiting for it to sell so we decided we'd rather see it gone faster and listed everything for free.

And Now for the After shots!!

All in all I think this remodel was a complete success and we are so happy to finally have it completed!

Reminder: Free Uni-Ball Super Ink Pen!

Have you signed up for your free pen from Uni-Ball yet? I received mine in the mail this week and it only took a few weeks from when I signed up. I even received an email letting me know they shipped it!

Light Posting This Weekend

I just wanted to hop on here and wish everyone a nice weekend! Hopefully it is sunny wherever you are like it is here in Seattle! I am LOVING this spring weather, even though I didn't really get a winter and only got to go snowboarding once!

At any rate, we will be working on the bathroom a lot over the next couple of days and hopefully when we are not doing that we will be outside enjoying our family time and the sun and not sitting inside on the computer!

If any super hot deals pop I will post about them in the evenings probably but I just wanted to let everyone know that I won't be online as much as usual! As always, feel free to email me at fabulesslyfrugalmom@hotmail.com if you have any questions or want to let me know about any Fabule$$ deals you have come across!

Enjoy the sun while it's out!!

Project Bathroom Remodel Begins!

My husband and I have decided that we might want to try and sell our house this summer. We love love love our home and we have been here for almost 6 years but the truth is, we are outgrowing it and if we want to have another baby in a year, we need more space! Plus with interest rates being as low as they are right now it would be a smart move financially.

That being said, our cute little home needs a little work. Since moving in we have done several projects including new windows, wood floors and a bath remodel! We are hoping to round out the projects by putting in new laminate countertops (looks like granite, less than 1/2 the cost!) and re-vamping our master bath.

We pre-ordered our countertops and will be getting those installed on March 12th. (I'll do a before and after post when that time comes.)

For now, here are a couple before pics of our bathroom!

Naomi helped me move everything out!

The Plan:
We are going to rip out the old vanity/sink, mirror and light fixture. Tear up the flooring and patch up holes. We are going to paint the ceiling and walls, put down laminate tiles and a new vanity/sink combo with a new mirror and light fixture. Our plan is to keep our current toliet and shower but replace the hardware in the shower to match the rest of the bathroom fixtures.

The Cost:
I want to do this as "frugally" as possible! We got lucky and found a new vanity that we loved at Home Depot for $250. As a bonus it came with a sink and mirror as well. We are buying a light fixture, faucet, hardware, paint and floor tile. We have ceiling paint and all the painting supplies already.

*Hopefully* we will get all of this done over the weekend. Not a big deal if we don't but it would be nice! I will do an update at the end of the project with after pics and a cost breakdown!

*Over* Free Digiorno 200 Calorie Pizza

Hurry and sign up HERE now to receive a coupon in the mail for a FREE package (up to $3.30 value) of Digiorno 200 Calorie Portion Pizzas! Go now though because I am not sure how long a hot coupon like that will be available! If the form doesn't work the first time try it again.

I had the opportunity to try these through Kraft First Taste and they are pretty yummy!

Thanks Money Saving Mom!

Update on Free Purex at Fred Meyer

Hey All!

If you haven't gone to Fred Meyer to pick up your free Purex detergent yet you may want to do it by tomorrow. According to a few online sources, they are going to be pulling the Catalina coupon pretty soon. Sometimes people get a little excited when they hear about getting basic necessities for free and apparently someone went and cleaned out Cincinnati of 800 bottles of Purex. That is just ridiculous in my opinion! Check out Frugal Living NW for more details.

Personally, I went to Fred Meyer tonight to pick up a couple of bottles. I was excited to get my Red Plum insert in the mail today because in it was a buy one get one free Purex coupon!

From what I have read, in order for the $4 Catalina to print you had to buy the 50 oz bottles so the 60 oz bottles you could pair with the $.35 off printable weren't triggering any Catalinas.

Anyways, tonight I purchased two 50 oz. bottles of Hypo-Allergenic Purex detergent for $1.99 each with the in-store coupon. I used the BOGO coupon to get an additional $1.99 off and my final price out of pocket was just over $2 with tax. $4 Catalina printed out with no problems. (My cashier was so funny and really interested in how I knew about all this coupon stuff! lol!) I turned around and used the Catalina in a 2nd transaction. I didn't really need more detergent, so I used it on my other groceries instead.

Note: Even if you don't use any manufacturer coupons on this deal, just the store coupon, the detergent ends up being free if you purchase the right bottles to get the Catalina to print.

VS Pink Nation e-club Freebie!

If you haven't signed up to be a member of Victoria's Secret's Pink Nation yet you are missing out! I get all kinds of discounts and freebies through them. Last summer I joined during a promotion and got a coupon for a free tote worth $20 when I signed up!

If you are currently a member, sign in HERE and print your coupon for a totally free Deluxe Fragrance Sampler! I plan on picking up mine this weekend!

If you are not yet a member, sign up HERE and you will receive the above coupon plus a coupon for $10 off $35!

Wait, it gets better! Pink Nation is hoping to reach 1 million members for their birthday and when they do all members will receive a free gift as well! So spread the word!

Fabule$$ Savings at Albertsons & Safeway!

Here is a photo of my haul from shopping at Albertsons and Safeway today. I could have gotten a lot more but it would have required multiple transactions and since I have been sick with a nasty bug the past few days I just wasn't feeling up to it.

Albertsons: Total Spent $7.16

Bought more Angel Soft TP, 2 packs of ground turkey and 2 boxes of pasta using coupons and doublers. Total Savings: $15.68! Today is the last day to use doublers and get this weeks sale prices so hurry in to make the most out of your coupons! Check out my post HERE to see doubler ideas.

With both of my Albies shopping trips this week I am now stocked on TP for a couple of months, got 4 free boxes of pasta, 3 free packs of tuna and a slammin deal on some ground turkey!

Safeway: $4.52

Bought 6 Free Right Guard Deodorants, 1 pint of creamer using a free coupon from Facebook, Organic Bananas and clearance priced pre-marinated chicken for $1.90. Total Savings: 84%, $21.48! Check out my post HERE on how to get stocked up on free deodorant!

Either later today or tomorrow I am heading to Fred Meyer to get some free Purex detergent and a few other grocery staples that we need. The grocery store ads for the next week come out today so I am anxious to see what I'll get for free or super cheap this week!

Free Right Guard Deodorant at Safeway!

**Update** I was able to get a bunch of free deodorants today at my Safeway and according to Thrifty NW Mom, the sale is good through 2/23 so there is lots more time to stockpile your husband's deodorant for the year! I know I will go back as soon as I can get some more coupons printed!!

I'm sorry I didn't post about this awesome deal last week. It completely slipped my mind and now tomorrow is the last day to make it work so hurry and print your coupons tonight!

Right Guard Deodorant - On sale $1.00 each

Scenario:

Buy 8 - $8.00

- use 2 $2.oo off 2 Printables

AND

- use 2 $2.00 off 2 Printables

Final Price: 8 for FREE!! This will last my husband for a while!

I have not gone to Safeway to get mine yet, going tomorrow for sure! However, I am hearing that the sale is $1.00 each when you spend $10 or more so you may want to add $2 worth of filler items to your cart to make sure you total before coupons is $10.

Use 2 $.35 off 1 coupons from 1/10 Red Plum insert
-or-
2 $.35 off 1 Printables HERE (must email a friend to get your coupon for Natural Elements only)
Final Price: $3.28 for 2 bottles, get back a $4 Catalina for buying 2!
Buy the 50 oz bottles to make sure the catalinas print properly.

That is like being PAID $.72 to buy this detergent!

If you are loyal to a certain brand or have skin conditions that require you to use a special detergent, consider buying this and donating to a local shelter. One of the amazing benefits to couponing is being able to share your bounty with others. Think of the family in need who would greatly benefit from some free laundry detergent you donated!

Thanks Frugal Chic Living!!

Happy Valentines Day!

Hope you all enjoy spending time with your sweeties today! My husband and I went out last night instead to avoid all the large crowds and hiked up prices at the nice restaurants.
This morning I made my two sweet hearts some fun pink, heart-shaped, chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast!

Recipe:
Prepare your normal pancake batter (This time I used Bisquick Healthy Heart.)
- 4 drops red food coloring to make them pink!
- add tsp. Vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp. ground flax seed (to add a little healthy goodness!)
- handful of chocolate chips (I find that it is easy to add a few to each pancake while they are on the stove before you flip them for the 1st time.)

To make the heart shapes you can cook them and then use a cookie cutter to make the hearts. Or if you have a metal cookie cutter you can actually use it as a mold for your batter. Just let the batter cook for a bit before removing the cutter so the retain their shape, it can get a little messy but it's worth it!

What fun things are you doing for your kids today?

Target: CHEAP Hefty One Zips!

Target has the Hefty One Zip storage bags on price cut right now for $1.00 per box.

Buy 2 boxes, $2.00
- use $1.00 off 2 coupon from the 1/31 Red Plum insert
Final Price: $1.00 ($.50 per box!)
This works out to be $.02/bag for the quart size and $.03/bag for the gallon size, a great stock up price!

Unfortunately my Red Plum inserts come in my mailbox vs. my Sunday paper so I only have access to one of these inserts per week otherwise I would have stocked up with about 4 more boxes! I am not sure how long long these will be on price cut but you can probably buy more coupons on eBay if you are building your stockpile.

Also at Target through tomorrow (2/13), Coffee-Mate Creamer (16 oz.) is on sale for $1.50, if you use the $.75 off printables from HERE (print 2 per computer) you can get these for $.75/bottle. I usually am able to get even better prices on these at Albertsons using doublers but right now they are $3.49 per 32 oz bottle so with a doubler it would be $1.99 per bottle making Target the place to get creamer this week.

Happy Shopping!

Albertsons: My First Trip

As you know from my post yesterday, I plan on going to Albertsons a few times this week to stock up on free or almost free products using the doubler coupons from the weekly ad.
Here is the transaction I did today:
Angel Soft 12 Double Roll TP: $4.99 x 2
Ronzoni Smart Taste Pasta: $1.00 x 2
Starkist Tuna: $1.00 x 3
Golden Double Stuff Oreos: $2.99 (No, we do not need the Oreos! but they were free so why not, bad bad!)
Coupons Used:
$1.00 off Starkist Tuna x 2 (Must sign in to your Vocalpoint account to get)
BOGO Free Starkist Tuna (sent in the mail from Vocalpoint)
FREE Oreo Coupon from Facebook promo 2 weeks ago
3 Doubler Coupons x $1.00 from weekly Albertsons ad

Final Price Paid Out of Pocket: $5.98 + Tax
Basically all I paid for was the toilet paper and the price on this is much cheaper than Costco's prices so if you can, go stock up! Everything else was FREE with the coupons I used!

I am planning to go back for more TP, more pasta and maybe a few other items that I will use with the doublers and I will keep you posted!
I noticed at the store today that some of the Jenny-O ground turkey was on sale for $2.99 each. You can use the $1.00 off 2 Jennie-O Turkey Store products coupon from an insert a couple months ago and a doubler to get 2 packs for $3.98. Usually these packs of ground turkey cost $4.99 each, good deal!

HOT Target Clearance!

Naomi and I went browsing at Target today, she had a gift card to use for her birthday so we went to get some cute pink Converse shoes and a step stool for her to use in the bathroom for potty training!

Much to my surprise, there is a TON of clearance items at my store (Woodinville, WA) right now. I can't confirm that this is nationwide but there were several areas of the store on high markdowns.

Bedding - 75% off! I found some really fancy comforter sets and sheet sets for $4! I didn't buy any since I couldn't think of anything we really needed but if you are in the market for new bedding it might be worth a special trip!

Winter/Cold Weather Clearance - 50-75% off! I picked up a power snow shovel for my brother in law today for $49.95, these usually run about $125 at the beginning of the season. There were also some pretty fireplace sets, humidifiers and snow toys on high markdowns!

Toy Clearance - 30-50% The toy clearance event was a few weeks ago but there are still some of those toys hanging around and they just keep marking them down. Mostly boy toys left, but if you have any boys to buy for this year this would be a great chance!

Warehouse Items - 30% Target has been running a promo the past couple of months with warehouse club-sized items. These prices were not great but I think the promo is ending soon and I found several of those items on clearance today like Colgate toothpaste and Pampers wipes. The prices still aren't really worth it but maybe next week they will be marked down even further.

End-Cap Clearance Items: I always always check the clearance sections at any store I go to. You never know what treasures you are going to find on markdown and you can use coupons on these items! Last week and this week I scored a ton of free GE lightbulbs using the coupons from last months Smart Source inserts (I won't be needing any lightbulbs for a couple of years now!). Here are some items I saw on the clearance end-caps today: Purex 3 in 1 Laundry Sheets, Glade Scented Candle Holders, Secret Deodorant, Revlon Makeup, Toilet Paper and other various items. Pair these with coupons and get a smokin' deal!

When you go shopping at Target over the next few weeks, keep your eyes peeled for Fabule$$ clearance deals and comment or email with what you scored!

Where is your favorite place to go for dinner on your birthday?
Even though I don't get anything free my favorite birthday outing is The Cheesecake Factory! My birthday is in November and that means Pumpkin Cheesecake, oh yum!

Free Sample: Burt's Bees Toothpaste

Here is another great free sample to sign up for!

Burt's Bees Natural Toothpaste

I love most Burt's Bees products, so I am excited to try this out! As I have said many times before, signing up for free samples not only provides a fun trip to the mailbox almost everyday but it also allows you to try new products that you wouldn't necessarily buy without trying first.

Super Savings at Albertsons!

Today is the LAST day of the HOT Quaker Oatmeal promotion and the last day to use the 3 doublers from the 1/31 Sunday paper. Naomi and I hit up our store on the way home from work this afternoon and look at all we got for only $7!

There were some reports around the blogosphere that most of the Albertsons stores had been informed by Quaker that the $1/1 Instant Oatmeal coupons were fakes so most stores were not accepting them. I printed all of my coupons directly from the Quaker website from as many computers as I could get my hands on so I knew that they weren't fraudulent. I thought, why not, I'll give it a shot and if they won't accept them then so be it. My store in Woodinville took all 5 with no questions asked! YAY! That means I got 5 FREE boxes of instant oatmeal!

Here is the rest of my transaction using the doublers:
Nestle Tollhouse Chocolate Chips x 4 - on sale 2 for $5
Skippy Natural Peanut Butter x 2 - on sale 2 for $3
Digiorno 200 Calorie Pizza - on sale for $3.00
Sub Total: $16
Used in-ad Skippy coupon for $1 off 2
Used 2 $1.00 off 2 Nestle Printables
Used 3 doublers
Used a Get One Free coupon for Digiorno from Kraft First Taste
Final Cost: $7.00 for 12 Items (including the oatmeal)!!

I have to admit my last few trips to Albertsons have not been pleasant. I seem to always get a cashier that hates coupons and the people that bring them in or I find unstocked shelves so I was not optimistic about this trip either. I was so happy with the outcome today and I think it is that I went to a different store than I usually do. The shelves were stocked well and the cashiers were very nice and willing to help out. I am going to shop at this new location from now on!

You still have time to get to your Albie's today to use your doublers! Leave a comment letting me know what you used yours on!
